Federal Employment Programs/Services

CARE – Career Assistance and Resources for Employment
CARE provides, at no cost to you, innovative, client–focused career solutions and job search tools to guide you back to employment. With onsite and online workshops, self-help resources, and career / employment counselling the CARE Team offers leading–edge, high quality employment services to all unemployed Canadians.

Compass Programs, offered since 2001 at the MCC Employment Centre, assist individuals with career exploration, setting career direction, and job search. If you are job ready and seeking immediate employment, take the short Job Search Keys program; learn tools & strategies to accelerate your successful connection with the work you want. Taken individually, or in sequence, COMPASS programs can be the turning point in your employment path.

MYERT'S Youth Employment Resource Centre (YERC) provides specialized employment assistance services for youth clients between 15-30 years of age who are unemployed and legally entitled to work in Canada and live in Abbotsford and Mission.

Success @ Work is a high impact work maintenance program designed to assist unemployed or under-employed (under 20 hours per week) individuals understand and cope with the changing workplace and enhance their employability prospects.

"English for Living and Working" is a Service Canada initiative, offered through W.J. Mouat Secondary, offering Workplace English, Job search and career planning, Resume and cover letter preparation, Interview skills and practice, help with understanding the Canadian workplace and completing application forms, as well as basic computer skills for new immigrants.

Abbotsford/Mission R.I.T.E. Program - Reaching Independence Through Employment - assists men in the Abbotsford/Mission area who have experienced many barriers to finding and keeping employment. Men will have the opportunity to define employment goals that fit with the local labour market in their area of interests and expertise while developing and enhancing personal management skills.

Abbotsford/Mission W.R.I.T.E. Program - Women Reaching Independence Through Employment - assists women in the Abbotsford/Mission area who have experienced many barriers to finding and keeping employment. Women will have the opportunity to define employment goals that fit with the local labour market in their area of interests and expertise while enhancing and developing personal management skills.

Provincial & Community Employment Programs/Services

Buxton Consulting (Job Wave Contractor) is a private company that specializes in providing career planning; vocational and rehabilitation assessments; employment marketing and placement; occupational and lifestyle counselling; as well as conducting training seminars and workshops for corporate and public sector organizations.

Triumph Vocational Services is a voluntary employment program for persons with disabilities who are interested in expanding their life and work skills and finding a job.

Abbotsford Community Services is committed to helping individuals, families and communities achieve their full potential.

Training and Learning

Wage Subsidy Program - Bowman Employment Services coordinates a wage subsidy program that is designed to help unemployed persons gain work experience. Through this program, an employer receives assistance with wage costs while an employee benefits from current work experience.
